Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Who We Are
PastSweep is operated by Polar Apps, a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use PastSweep at pastsweep.com (the "Service").
If you have any questions, contact us at support@pastsweep.com.
2. What We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the Service:
Your Archive File
When you upload your X (Twitter) archive ZIP file, we temporarily store it on our servers to perform the scan. We extract and process only the tweet data within the archive. We do not access, store, or transmit any other files within your archive (such as media, direct messages, or profile data).
Scan Results
We store the output of your scan — flagged post content, categories, and scores — in order to display your results. This data is associated with a random session ID, not your identity.
Email Address (Optional)
If you purchase a Deep Review, you may optionally provide your email address so we can send you a link to your results. Providing your email is optional — you can also copy your results link directly. We do not use your email for marketing.
IP Address
We log your IP address for security and rate-limiting purposes (to prevent abuse of the Service). We do not use IP addresses to identify or track you across sessions.
Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number or payment details. Stripe handles all payment data under their own Privacy Policy.
3. What We Do Not Collect
- We do not require you to create an account or log in.
- We do not collect your name, phone number, or any identity information.
- We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
- We do not use third-party analytics or advertising tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Pixel).
- We do not sell your data to any third party — ever.
- We do not access your X (Twitter) account directly. We only process the archive file you provide.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to:
- Perform the archive scan and generate your results.
- Display your results during your session or 48-hour access window.
- Send you your results link by email, if you chose to provide your email address.
- Enforce rate limits and prevent abuse of the Service.
- Diagnose technical problems and maintain service reliability.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to delivering the Service.
5. AI Processing
As part of the scan, flagged tweets may be sent to Anthropic's Claude AI for further analysis. This processing is done via Anthropic's API. Tweets are sent in batches with no identifying information attached. Anthropic processes this data under their own Privacy Policy. We do not send your full archive to Anthropic — only individual tweet texts that were flagged by our keyword filter.
6. Data Retention
We automatically delete your data on the following schedule:
- Free scan data (summary only) — deleted automatically after 24 hours.
- Paid scan data (full results) — deleted automatically after 7 days from the date of purchase.
- Email addresses — deleted at the same time as the associated scan data.
- Uploaded archive files — deleted immediately after processing. We do not retain your ZIP file.
After these periods, your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except as required to operate the Service:
- Stripe — processes payments. They receive transaction data only.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (your results link). They receive your email address only if you chose to provide one.
- Anthropic — processes flagged tweet text via AI API. No identifying information is shared.
- Railway / Vercel — our hosting infrastructure. Data is stored on their servers in accordance with their privacy policies.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the Service, but we will never voluntarily share your data beyond the above.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure database connections, and rate limiting to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure. You use the Service at your own risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights (PIPEDA)
As a Canadian business, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you.
- Request access to your personal information.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Withdraw consent to our use of your personal information.
Because we do not collect identity information, we cannot look up your data by name. If you have your scan ID or results link, contact us at support@pastsweep.com and we can assist you.
10. Cookies
PastSweep does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We may use a minimal session cookie strictly necessary for the Service to function (e.g., to maintain your scan session). No third-party cookies are set on our site.
11. Children's Privacy
PastSweep is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through our Service, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
